Day Ten + Eleven
It’s go time, and we started making a difference!!!
Here is what we are already activating:
- We are providing meals and caregivers to 60 elderly citizens in Ofakim
- We are reopening a daycare for adults with autism that will enable 30 residents to return to their routine (by providing them with a required bomb shelter solution on site)
- We are setting up a mental heath center in Ofakim, for terror related trauma victims, and will be providing over 200 hours of consultation a month for the next 3 months
- We are furnishing 50 apartments in central Israel that will provide immediate housing solutions to 420 evacuees
- We are releasing a first wave of grocery cards to 1,000 evacuated welfare families
- We are deploying a food truck serving 1,500 hot meals and 2,000 sandwiches a day, for 6 days, and sending it to locations we are targeting
- We are providing $50,000 to addressing individual welfare cases
- Next week we will be making a deposit of $1,250 to each family of a kidnapped or missing person(s!) that applied for relief (~300)
These are real gaps and real needs that we stepped in to address. There is a lot more we plan to do, and we are now set up to do so. We built a committed team (we are all volunteers) and identified plenty of needs to directly support — fuller list being updated on projecttkooma.org.
With that, after almost two weeks, I am returning to the US, and will continue my work from there with the rest of the team daily. My dear friend and a Project Tkooma partner, Avner Mendelson, has landed yesterday from New York and will provide a boost of leadership here on the ground.
Lastly, I want to take a moment and thank the donors and the leadership of the Combat Antisemitism Movement, who have donated to Project Tkooma, will be investing in shared projects, and have contributed with their time and knowledge.
Thank you all for your continued support!
Sam
