Our initiative is dedicated to providing relief to welfare-dependent families displaced from three cities in southern Israel. These families, already grappling with low income and reliant on welfare support, now find themselves temporarily dispersed across the country. The prevailing situation has led to widespread unemployment, exacerbating the financial hardship they already face.
Social workers from the three affected cities have identified approximately 1,000 such families, compiling a comprehensive list to ensure targeted support. This assistance will be channeled through fellow case workers located across the country. The management of this endeavor is entrusted to ClearGiving, an organization with an established history of collaboration with welfare departments during normal circumstances.
It's important to note that no overhead costs will be incurred during the execution of this project. Our primary objective is to provide each of these families with 5,000 NIS (equivalent to $1,250) over the next couple of months. We have started distributing an initial sum of 2,000 NIS ($500) to each of the 1,000 families.
These days, Israel's northern front is experiencing a reality of attrition warfare. Many tourism businesses have had to suspend or even close their operations. This initiative provides financial grants and business support to help sustain these businesses. The business support program is delivered by professionals, volunteers of "Brothers for Business," in various fields.
Amidst the heart-wrenching circumstances faced by numerous families with loved ones held captive or missing, our project offers essential support to 266 of these families with immediate grants of $1,250. We recognize that our assistance is just a part of the ongoing support provided to these families as they navigate the challenges of seeking answers and reunification.
Our initiative provides targeted financial aid to carefully identified families facing severe hardships. We offer substantial amounts ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 per family, meticulously assessing individual cases that have reached a critical point with urgent and unmet needs. These families, on the brink of collapse and lacking support from other avenues, undergo a thorough evaluation process to ensure our assistance directly addresses their dire circumstances.
Utilizing traveling food trucks, under the guidance of renowned Israeli chef Haim Cohen, to prepare and serve meals to soldiers, medical teams and diverse communities impacted by the ongoing situation. These food trucks will be strategically deployed to hospitals, military units and community centers on a daily basis, providing hot meals, sandwiches, coffee, and pastries to support those in service and their families.
One of the pervasive challenges confronted by families in Ofakim pertains to the lack of organized structure and engaging activities for their children. This pressing issue has been found to elevate the risk level for children, resulting in instances of delinquency, domestic violence, neglect, and related concerns. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the Welfare Department of Ofakim has formally approached Project Tkooma, seeking financial support for the acquisition of three distinct home activity sets. These sets encompass a comprehensive array of games, arts and crafts materials, and sports equipment. Our aim is to ensure that the children from 200 families in Ofakim are provided with meaningful and stimulating diversions to keep them occupied and engaged during these challenging times.
This project, administered under the careful oversight of ClearGiving, aims to address immediate needs through welfare offices in six cities. These allocated funds will be channeled towards one-time, targeted interventions for individuals experiencing distress in circumstances where alternative budgetary resources are unavailable.
The selected cities and their respective funding allocations are as follows:
The Haredi community comprises approximately 35% of the city's population, primarily concentrated in two central neighborhoods. Regrettably, these neighborhoods currently lack essential communal facilities and services catering to the needs of the community's children and families. A significant challenge arises as welfare authorities struggle to adequately address the requirements of these families, owing to the inadequacy of existing community centers for the Haredi population.
In light of this pressing need, it is of paramount importance to provide essential support for children within economically disadvantaged families, particularly during the challenging circumstances we face. In alignment with the Ministry of Welfare's guidelines, each community center is envisioned to accommodate 15 children and will be staffed by three dedicated professionals, operating in the afternoon and evening hours. The proposed activities at these centers encompass emotional support, educational assistance, and enriching experiences.
In response to these challenges, we are actively engaged in the establishment of two distinct youth clubs, one exclusively for girls and the other for boys, both with a specific focus on serving the unique needs of the Haredi community.
The children of Otef Azza, the Israeli communities surrounding Gaza, are experiencing profound and lasting changes in their lives. These young souls have departed their homes, carrying with them the weight of pain, longing, and concern for those they've left behind. While we cannot erase the indelible memories or bring back their beloved ones, we are determined to bestow upon them the gift of happiness. Our mission, with the matching of other organizations, is to provide a total of 70 packages to children from Netiv Ha'asara, each comprising a Nintendo console, three captivating games, and a convenient carrying case.
Supplying school materials for children from Gvar'am, Mivtahim, Netiv Ha'asara, Nir Oz, and towns in the north of Israel. These kids are facing significant disruptions in their lives after they have all been evacuated from their homes due to the ongoing situation in Israel.
The Nirim Youth Village operates a unique therapeutic educational program for high-risk teens,
providing many with their final opportunity to reintegrate into society as contributing, normative
citizens.
The village is located in Bustan HaGalil, in close proximity to the Lebanese border. The area is highly
exposed and vulnerable to missile attacks from Lebanon, and missile alert sirens are frequent.
According to Israeli Home Front Command directives, everyone in the area must stay within a 30-
second walk from a bomb shelter. Unfortunately, Nirim Youth Village's facility does not have nearly enough shelters to
meet this requirement.
During the first month of the war, the youth village evacuated half of the village teenagers to temporary alternative
sites in the center of the country. They soon realized that these temporary solutions make it impossible
to maintain reasonable educational and therapeutic routines for the youth. As a result, teen progress
suffers, and at times, the therapeutic process is harmed.
In order to enable high-risk teens to continue their critical rehabilitation, they must return them to the
village! Resuming routine activities in the village for these adolescents will only be possible if they can
provide adequate bomb shelter protection for everyone.
We will provide with the matching of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, 8 shelters to the Nirim Youth Village.
This initiative is committed to providing essential support to the 60 elderly residents of Ofakim who are unable to evacuate the city due to their age and unique circumstances. The comprehensive support package includes the following components:
Under normal circumstances, Gallop extends its vital services to 80 individuals with special needs or PTSD at its ranch in Kfar Shmuel. This has a profound impact on the well-being of these special needs adults and their families, helping them maintain a sense of routine and normalcy in their lives.
Regrettably, Gallop is currently unable to operate due to a critical absence of bomb shelters, as mandated by Israel's Home Front Command. This situation has left 30 special needs adults in a state of urgent need. These individuals find themselves grappling with the disruption of their regular routines, and their families are faced with the challenging task of providing round-the-clock support.
Our project is dedicated to securing funding for the construction of two essential bomb shelters, each with an estimated cost of $33,250. The implementation of these shelters will not only facilitate the reopening of Gallop's doors but will also deliver immediate relief to the 30 special needs adults. Furthermore, it will provide crucial support to their families, who are currently grappling with a lack of prioritization and assistance.
After the events of October 7th, the caddies belonging to elderly residents in Nir Itzhak were either destroyed or stolen, significantly impacting their ability to move independently. Our initiative aims to address this loss by providing these individuals with replacement 'Breeze 4' caddies, aiming to restore their mobility and help them regain their freedom to navigate their daily lives with ease
This initiative is dedicated to addressing the mental health needs of residents in southern Israel outside the "Otef Aza" region who have experienced trauma. Recognizing that psychological treatments for trauma require time and consistency, this project aims to provide essential financial support for individuals in the southern region who are unable to afford such services on their own.
To achieve this goal, the foundation will collaborate with professional volunteers, including psychologists and social workers, to develop a comprehensive and effective intervention plan. The foundation is committed to establishing professional requirements for therapists, recognizing the importance of a structured approach to trauma recovery. We will also specify the number of approved therapeutic sessions for each individual, understanding that success in trauma treatment often requires a sustained effort.
Operating under the guidance of ClearGiving, an organization with a proven track record in collaboration with welfare departments, the foundation will maintain regular communication with field operators to ensure a coordinated and supportive approach throughout the treatment process.
This project's primary objective is to secure the funding required to employ eight mental health practitioners who will collectively offer 456 hours of treatment over the course of the next three months. This financial support will encompass the compensation for the mental healthcare professionals and the provision of transportation to the Community Resilience Center situated in Ofakim.
Furthermore, the project will allocate resources for equipping the resilience center to ensure it is fully prepared for emergency activities. The essential equipment to be procured includes:
